When I started sewing as a small child, I could
only dream of the success that I’ve achieved today. This weekend, I was
reminded of the days before Rebecca Minkoff was a worldwide brand, and I was
just another aspiring designer. On Saturday I spoke to teens looking to
make there own mark in fashion history at Teen Vogue’s Fashion University.

Teen Vogue’s Fashion University is a weeklong
event where Teen Vogue readers from all over the world travel to New York to
learn all about the Fashion Industry. Each day designers, fashion bloggers, and
industry executives lead seminars and take questions in a panel format.
As I answered audience questions about my past,
my inspirations, and my next steps, I wondered if the next great designer was
somewhere in the room. Other speakers included Diane Von Furstenberg,
Derek Lam, and Blake Mycoskie from Tom’s shoes. It was an honor to be in such
great company.

Each season I present my new collection with a video. Today I shot footage for Spring 2010 Handbags. The new bags, which hit stores early next year, are some of my most creative yet. Spring 2010 has it all – animal prints, studs, perforated leather, and even tie-dye in a number of new styles and colors!

Once the video is complete, I’ll post it here on Minkette to get your thoughts. Until then, check out my YouTube channel to view videos of past seasons.

I asked you to post pictures of you with RM bags to highlight in newsletters, blog posts, and videos.
Thanks to .reese. for posting this one. She wore her matinee while taking her engagement pictures!
How sweet... Kind of feels like I was there :)

Post your pictures to the Show Me Your Style Forum, and you could be next! Can't wait to see your style.

It’s flattering and inspiring to have a true style icon like Agy wearing my apparel. Here is she is my Piped Jacket looking like a true supermodel

Growing up in the sunshine I missed out on snow days, sledding, snowball fights, hats, mittens, and most importantly winter coats! However, now that home base is NYC, I’ve grown to love coats and am looking forward to growing my winter wardrobe this year.
Of course, I’m a huge fan of my Boyfriend coat. It has the structured simplicity of a man's coat with the perfect cut for a woman.

A few other coats I’ve been eyeing this season -
Nicholas K - The washed leathers are chic yet casual.

Rag and Bone – These will definitely keep me warm all winter! (They’re super cute too!)

And of course, there’s always Alexaner Wang!

Today I flew from New York to Florida, and the in flight experience was made substantially more bearable by one essential accessory. No, not my Loveletter Satchel jam-packed with magazines, an ipod, my computer, etc, but a slightly less fashionable piece I won’t get on a plane without. An eye mask!
Get that image of a middle-aged businessman out of your head!
I love sleep and welcome any opportunity I can get to grab extra Z’s. My eye mask is peaceful, relaxation at its best. No Tylenol PM necessary - just slip it on, and I’m out in 5 min flat.
Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself. You’ll wake up refreshed and recharged like I just did. Now I’m off to see the parents!
I know there are more of you out there who share this secret obsession, so I’m taking a poll. What’s your opinion on eye-masks?
A Sky High Essential or a Flight Faux Pas?

Dear Minkettes
Thank you for your overwhelming interest in the flash sale today.
I truly apologize the site went down. It is very embarrassing and humbling to me. We experienced a huge record volume of traffic and overloaded our 3rd party server. I had hoped that the tech team would have things ready for today and clearly we underestimated what the load would be. I am doing a full overhaul now and diving into this as this is fully unacceptable to me that this happened today. As a result and until I have more confidence, the Flash Sale has been cancelled. We'll be back with new and improved capability for high loads for our annual Black Friday Sale! If I feel confident prior to then, we will try another one of these.
We had hoped to resurrect it and that is why I have not written sooner, but at this point my comfort is not there, and I don't want to keep you hanging.
Once again, I'm truly sorry for any inconvenience the crash may have caused you. I know many of you made your plans for today around this and for this I am truly sorry. I will more than make it up to you. I promise that.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Minkoff

Thanks for everyone's overwhelming excitement for the flash sale
today! We are testing out our first flash sale on our new Beta site and
running into a few glitches. Currently, no customers are able access
the sale, so no need to worry about us selling out before you get
access.
I appreciate you
sticking with me. Check back soon in the handbag section of
RebeccaMinkoffStore.com. The full price bags will disappear and the sale bags will be displayed. It should be up and running in the next 30 min. I apologize for the delay. I'll update facebook, twitter, and minkette once the sale gets going.
